Fire Season
This year's fire season in the hi-desert looks to be a bad one. We've had so much rain over the winter months, that the grass and brush has just bloomed all over the place. And with the hot summer sun drying it out, it's now a tinder box of explosive fuel just waiting for a spark.
This is a pic of the desert floor showing all the dry grass that's covering the ground.
Add a dry hot wind and you have the recipe for a major blaze. We've already had two fires that sucked up over 1700 acres in a matter of hours.
Of course fire is nature's way of cleaning things up and germinating various desert plants, but now that people have begun to really build and encroach upon the wild areas, it becomes a major threat to life and property.
So be careful out there with all camp fires and cigarettes!
