Desert Doorway
Here's something kinda' cool - a desert doorway...
When ever I'm out hiking in the desert I look for rock formations like this when I want to take a break and get out of the sun for a while, maybe to take a nap or have a quick tea brew (I always carry a little canteen cup brew kit with me).
Anyway, I found this one out by Moonlight Mesa up in Joshua Tree, Ca....but the cool thing was, when I got to it and went "inside", it had some old rusty metal barrel hoops and weathered wooden barrel tops. Looking about I found some old spam cans and other junk. I bet this was used as a storage locker by some lonely miner back in the old gold mining days (and there were lots of mines around that spot). I was half hoping to find an old whiskey bottle from some long-forgotten saturday night "yeah-hoo", but no such luck.
I had a brew, smoked a cigar and went on my way without taking any of the rusty relics. One day I might go back and do a little digging about the floor of the doorway and see what I can find!
