Coyote Lake Bed
This shot is of the moon rising over the dust-bowl of the Coyote Dry Lake Bed in Joshua Tree, CA. It's a great place to cookout, ride your ATV or shoot your guns.
I've seen model airplane fans come out and fly their planes on calm days here. It's pretty cool to watch some the aerobatics these guys can do with their planes.
It's also a favorite place to shoot. Lots of open spaces and old junked cars plus discarded fridges to use for target practice. (always look where you're shooting in any open area!;) For some reason the locals dumped their metal junk here in days past, and since it's rusted and settled into the ground, it now adds to the charm of the area. Of course, today there is NO dumping allowed, but it's fun to kick around the old junkyards and see what you can turn up.
I was cooking out and watching the full moon rise over the eastern horizon when I snapped this shot. Nothing like a steak and cold beer over wood coals in the desert!
