More From Lake Mead

Here's a cool shot of where we spent the day camping at Lake Mead last August. It was on the Nevada side and the weather that day was perfect - just a slight hint of clouds to take the harshness off the desert sun (especially in August - it'll broil you in minutes).

This was exactly were we had camped - just pulled the jeep up to the edge and jumped in! We had planned on spending the day up in the Valley Of Fire State Park (which is just a few miles away actually) but after doing a little exploring we came across this beautiful spot and decided that was where we were going to stay. One note - it's primitive, but there is a small store at the marina on the north side of the lake where you can stock up on gas/food/water. Just make sure you have plenty of ice in the chest, because it gets REAL hot and nothing beats sipping a cold one on the deserted shoreline as the sun sets and the stars pop out.
