Desert Cabins
One thing I'm always on the search for are old desert cabins. The high desert of southern California is littered with the decaying remains of thousands of small prospector or home steader cabins. Sometimes inside you can still find old stuff like silverware, cooking pots and furniture.
This one I found out near Landers, CA and it still had a kitchen full of pots, pans and old silver knives and forks!
I'm trying to buy one of these, but finding the owners can be a real pain. You sometimes have to comb the old tax rolls to see who owns it....and if there are even still alive!
You can pick up some good deals at the annual tax auctions, but they only happen once a year and lately people have been bidding really high for these things.
I've got a few in secret locations I'm trying to purchase, so l'll keep you informed if I get one.
Then I can kick back and enjoy the sunset from my very own desert cabin!
